dc.description.abstractEisenman's 1990 criticisms of a published pilot study of the use of self-help manuals with prisoners who have alcohol-related problems are addressed. Self-help manuals may be of value where other interventions are not applicable. Completion of the extended study should provide quantitatively based conclusions.
